Behind the project
SMURL.BE has been built by AeonCube Networks to allow their clients, general users and web scripts to create short URL's for their web addresses. The service is offered freely to use by anyone that wishes to use it.
SMURL.BE is hosted in Washington, DC USA data centre using Railo & ColdFusion on some of the most advanced servers for web applications. We plan to move the project over time to its own racks in the US or UK depending on user usage.
TweetDeck
SMURL.BE can now be used on your TweetDeck desktop application to have your website addresses shorten to a easy to use SMURL.BE URL. We have built our API to handle plain text returns which TweetDeck uses to get the shorten URL into its post.
HOW TO: Simple copy and paste the code below into your TweetDeck "Settings / Preferences" => "Services" => select shorten URL to "Other" and paste the code into the field under the drop down box.

Features coming soon
We have a large number of features that are on their way and currently being tested on our development machines. Below is a short list of features we will be offering soon:
- User accounts to keep records of your URL's
- See your websites short URL's created by your and others
- Full stats for country, computer type, language, browser used, etc
- Paid services for custom 1/2 charater long URL's
- Script add-ons for WYSIWYG editors (FCKeditor / TinyMCE)
- Mobile friendly version (Supporting less graphic based phones)
- API Version 1.1 will include use your own domain "yourdomain.com/?abc00"
API
We have developed a simple, easy to use API to integrate your websites systems to include smurl.be URL services. Our API will continue to be going under more development to increase the features and data returned by the XML.
